Time Management
Time plays a vital role in PTE; if you want to crack it, you should learn time management skills. Let’s talk about the Speaking module- Read aloud and repeat sentences. We know that as soon as we are done speaking, we must click on the NEXT button and go to the next question so that no unnecessary sounds are recorded. Regarding the Describe image and Retell lecture, we must speak till the last second of the recording bar, as the contribution towards the speaking module is more significant. Again, to answer short questions, we must speak the answer in one word and go to the next question.
- Writing module- Summarise written text; read the paragraph for the first 2 minutes, understand what sentences you will pick, and then type them. For the essay, the first 7-8 min must be dedicated to typing the template; while typing, think about the ideas; for the next 10 min, add your general views/ideas; and last, always leave 2-3 min for proofreading.
- Reading module- Understand what the TIMEWASTER questions are, and do not waste time on them. For the Reorder paragraph, spend about 1- 2 minutes reading the FIBs, both 2- 3 minutes
- 7 Listening module- There are 4-time wasters and 4-essential questions in listening. People wanting their desired score cannot use the traditional path of learning and solving every question. The points drastically vary between the crucial and least essential questions in PTE. Important questions are summarising spoken text, Filling in the blanks, Highlighting incorrect words, and Writing from Dictations. (4 questions). The Least Important questions are MCQ multiple answers, MCQ single answers, Highlighting correct summaries, and Selecting missing words (As soon as the audio stops, click the most preferred answer and go next asap).
On The Day Of The Exam!!
On the day of your final exam, it is recommended that you practise the Speaking module just as a warm-up session 30-40 min before your exam, and never miss the INTRODUCTION SESSION. Always book your exam at the productive time of your day (some are morning people, while some are evening people). Analyse when you are the most productive, and always book your exam during that time. Do not forget your passport and arrive at the centre 30 min before your exam starts.
Revise All The Templates And Word Counts Before The Final Exam
It is recommended that all the templates be revised word to word before the exam, including the punctuations in the template (to avoid any grammar errors) and the word counts for the Summarise Written and Spoken tests and the Essay.
Always Talk To Your Pte Experts Before The Final Exam Clear All The Doubts
It is highly recommended that you talk to your tutors before the final exams and clear any sort of last-minute doubts you have; always get a MOCK TEST checked before the final exam so that the tutor can guide you on your strengths and weaknesses.
Check Your Equipment And Surroundings While Giving Your Exam
Expect a NOISY ENVIRONMENT; Englishwise, have a like environment in all our physical institutes, wherein you are not sitting alone while giving the mock test similar to your final exam, so what I am trying to say is, in the final exam, expect about 10-12 other students to start the exam with you at the same time, that means when they are giving speaking, you are also giving speaking, which can create some sort of distraction, but DO NOT PANIC if you are an English wise student, you have been through it. You have trained yourself for that; others, please expect a noisy environment and have a complete presence of mind.
It is highly recommended to check your microphones, laminated booklet, and marker that they provide during the test, check your microphone; your voice must be heard loud and clear, and there must not be any breathing sound or any background noise in it; check the marker see whether it is not dried up, permanently close the lid of the marker after every use; otherwise, the ink will dry.
Most Importantly!!
If you have faced a technical issue during the exam, DO NOT PANIC; raise the problem with the invigilator and get your case number right there; it will work in your favour if you don’t end up getting your desired score; you can talk to PTE customer service and avail a free test with the help of the case number (there are some exceptions).
Finally, have confidence. If you’ve practised enough, nothing can stop you. Just relax and keep track of the time, and you’ll be ready to ace your PTE exam! Good luck!!
