Computer-Delivered Exam Pattern of IELTS General in Egypt
IELTS is available in three models: Academic, General Training, and Life Skills. Each is suited for a different purpose, much like their names suggest. The first is for those who plan to study abroad, the next is for anyone who wants to migrate for work or study (below degree level), and the last is designed for immigration to the UK.
Among the three, IELTS General is the most popular format that suits educational, work, and migration purposes. However, understanding what it entails and practising thoroughly is key to acing this test.
IELTS General tests you in four sections –
Tests your capacity to understand verbal information. You will have different questions, such as MCQs and table completion, and you have to answer based on what you hear.
Evaluates you based on your English reading skills. The questions in this section include MSQs, diagram labelling, matching headings, etc.
Assess your ability to write an error-free text in various aspects, from vocabulary to grammar to clarity.
Divided into 3 parts, this section involves a face-to-face interview with the examiner. You will begin with your introduction and speak on a given theme for about two minutes.

IELTS Exam Fees & Centres in Egypt
Registering for the IELTS exam is quite straightforward. Just choose your preferred exam type, location, and date, then pay the exam fee and register. The fee you must pay differs based on the format you choose.
- Around EGP 8,000 for the standard IELTS Academic and General Training
- Around EGP 8,500 for ELTS for UK Visas and Immigration
- Around EGP 5,500 for IELTS Life Skills (A1 and B1)
Besides fees and mode, there’s not much variation between computerised and paper-based IELTS. You will be tested on the same grounds and have the same questions. The only difference is that the result of a paper-based test will be available in 14 days, whereas the computerised one will take just 3 to 5 working days. Thus, for candidates who are in a rush, computer-based IELTS is the best option.

Absolutely.
You can appear for the IELTS test as many times as you need. There’s no limit to the number of times a candidate can take the IELTS exam. If necessary, you can do it the very next day of your first test.
Your IELTS band score is valid for 2 years from the test date. The score expires after this period. If you require a recent score for any purpose, you may have to retake the IELTS exam again.
